The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a remarkable place to visit. It is an experience that we will never forget. There is more than one way to enjoy this park, so pick which way you would like to. In our opinion, both ways are worth the time and money. We never get tired of visiting Volcano National Park because it always offers a beauty unique to the Big Island of Hawaii. Volcano National Park First, drive over and spend the day. There are museums, hiking paths, and scenic overlooks that you can spend a whole day enjoying. We suggest bringing a lunch along, and any snacks because there is a limited number of eating establishments close by. Bring a light jacket because you may want to hike through the rain forest and explore the exciting cave-like lava tubes. You should plan to stay until dark so you can see the lava flowing down the mountain, and if you are lucky enough you can even see the lava flowing into the ocean. It is quite the site. Make sure you bring your own flashlights because you can actually hike to where the lava is flowing, and if you stay until dusk you will be hiking back in the dark. Don't worry there are plenty of rangers and people around also viewing this site, so it is not as if you are alone. (click here for a map to the National Park from the Condo)

Second, enjoy the park from above in a helicopter. There are several companies providing tours of the Island and its majestic mountains, volcanoes and lush rain forests. We recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. They have the latest helicopters and in our opinion, very safe and experienced pilots. Looking into the crater of an active volcano is a once in a life time experience.
