Day 5: Golf and a Day at Hapuna Beach

We love to golf and it doesn’t get better than on the Big Island. The Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf has two courses, The Beach Course and The Kings’ Course. Let’s face it, how many times are you going to get to golf surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful scenery of Hawaii. Both courses have been designed by champion golfers to give an excellent challenge. We call ahead and reserve tee times before our vacation. This way we are assured a tee time that fits our schedule, and don’t have to spend valuable vacation time on the phone. Since we have not explored all the golfing opportunities on the Big Island, we have found a great website that gives information for many other golf courses located here. The interactive map is especially helpful when fitting golf into your many activities that will take you throughout the island. Check out Welcome to the paradise for golfers: Hawaii’s Big Island!

Hapuna Beach

Hapuna Beach Park, is one of our favorite beaches on the Big Island! The beach is well maintained with plenty of parking and life guard stations. Hapuna is only a 10 minute drive from the Waikoloa Beach Resort with sand that is white and soft. We like Hapuna because the waves are often perfect for boogie boarding. There are public showers, restrooms, and a small snack bar for added convenience. Check out our Tips for Enjoying a Day on the Beach. One of our favorite activities is to take some hot dogs or hamburgers and grill them on the provided grills. We bring our own charcoal and cooking utensils for grilling. We often loose track of time and end up staying until sunset.
