Day 3: Laying out at the Pool and Enjoying the Waikoloa Beach Resort

Snorkeling Lagoon at the Hilton Waikoloa Village

After such a long day at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, we are ready for a day of sleeping in and relaxing fun. The Hilton Waikoloa Village has especially nice pools and even though we prefer to stay in our condo at the Fairway Villas, we will pay the Hilton fee in order to use their water slides, pools, and snorkeling lagoon. The Hilton has created a man made salt water lagoon that is completely void of waves and teaming with ocean life. It is an ideal place to take the kids and timid adults snorkeling.

We have also enjoyed swimming with the dolphins at the Hilton’s Dolphin Quest. This is a unique experience where you get to learn, take care of, and play with dolphins. As we walk around the resort we often stop by the dolphin area and enjoy observing these fun animals.

The resort has hammocks, and really nice lounge chairs with canopies scattered around so that you can enjoy some peace and quiet while listening and looking at the ocean. Again we stick around to watch another amazing sunset. One of our favorite places to eat and view the sunset is at Kamuela Provision Company on the Hilton Resort. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and great food. The resort hosts blow on the conch shell adding an extra hawaiian flare to the already spectacular view.

You mentioned one could pay a fee to use the facilities at the Hilton if not staying there. Any idea approximately how much that fee was?

Good question. I called the Hilton to get the most up to date information. It is $160 per day for a family of 4. This includes access to all the amenities and a day use hotel room. It is limited to available occupancy. The Hilton suggested making a reservation in advance. Once we had a party of 6, and they let us use the amenities for the same price as the family of 4. Previously, they allowed us to use the amenities for $80 per day but without the day use of a hotel room, but the receptionist I talked to said that was no longer an option. I would still ask if that is an option when you get there, especially if you don’t think you will need the hotel room.
